ACCREDITATION
Handicraft involves making, transforming or repairing artistic and consumer goods. It can also be defined as the provision of services through the application of processes that rely heavily on the use of personal and technical skills. The resulting products should be one-off pieces, which cannot be manufactured industrially or in large series.
Any activity that bypasses any of the commonly accepted standard processes of the trades listed in the Handicrafts Directory cannot be considered a handicraft.
Conditions
This accreditation is mainly intended for postgraduates and craftspeople who disseminate their trade through demonstrations and teaching activities. Individuals who carry out a handicraft activity in Catalonia may apply for this accreditation. They must be able to demonstrate that they have a full command of one of the trades in the Handicrafts Directory, that they have practiced the trade for at least two years or that they have an official Arts and Crafts Diploma.
Documentation
- Application form duly filled out.
- Two passport photographs of the applicant
- Photocopy of ID card/passport

Bound A4-sized dossier that contains:
- Copy of Arts and Crafts Diplomas; certificate or document accrediting that the applicant has practised the activity for 2 years on an continuous basis (issued by an officially recognized association, guild, craft collective, etc.).
- Illustrated report (with images) showing, step-by-step, all the processes used to make/produce your pieces, as well as images of the studio and the tools used.
- At least 3 pieces (the piece made/produced for the illustrated report must be included) which demonstrate mastery of the processes of the craft applied for. The pieces must be well-packaged and protected to avoid possible damage.
- A delivery note for the pieces.
Jury's assessment criteria
- All required documentation has been presented
- Proof of the time the individual has practised the trade
- The quality of the manufacture and finish of the pieces presented
- The presentation of the pieces
- Academic qualifications
- Training courses completed
Validity
The licence is valid for three years and may be renewed for a further three years, except in the case of individuals who are 65 or over, in which case it will be valid for life. In the case of holders of a residence permit that will run out before the expiry of the licence, renewal is not possible.
Advantages
This licence entitles holders to:
- Receive the Newsletter that is published every four months.
- Access to competitions, exhibitions, and shows, and other cultural actions.
- Receive, at no cost, the photographs taken of the pieces deposited with Artesania Catalunya (you must apply in writing).
Holders will also be entitled to discounts in member establishments.
