ACCREDITATION
Handicraft involves making, transforming or repairing artistic and consumer goods. It can also be defined as the provision of services through the application of processes that rely heavily on the use of personal and technical skills. The resulting products should be one-off pieces, which cannot be manufactured industrially or in large series.
Any activity that bypasses any of the commonly accepted standard processes of the trades listed in the Handicrafts Directory cannot be considered a handicraft.
Conditions
Individuals who carry out a handicraft activity in Catalonia may apply for this accreditation. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have a full command of one of the trades in the Handicrafts Directory, that they have practiced the trade for at least two years, that they have done so on a professional basis and that they have no outstanding tax obligations.
Documentation
- Application form duly filled out
- Two passport photographs of the applicant.
- Photocopy of ID card/passport

Entrepreneurs:
- Certificate from the Business Tax Registry issued by the Tax Office or photocopy of the Tax Return concerning enrolment, modification or suspension in the tax register (form 036 or 037).
- Photocopy of latest proof of payment of self-employed contributions.

Employees:
- Proof that the individual works in a company, whether under a sole proprietorship or corporate scheme, and is registered as a craftsperson (last salary slip).
- Photocopy of latest proof of payment to the General Social Security Scheme (TC2).

Bound A4-sized dossier that contains:
- Illustrated report (with images) showing, step-by-step, all the processes used to make/produce your pieces, as well as images of the studio and the tools used.
- Accredited CV.
- At least 3 pieces (the piece made/produced for the illustrated report must be included) which demonstrate mastery of the processes of the craft applied for. The pieces must be well-packaged and protected to avoid possible damage.
- A delivery note for the pieces.
Jury's assessment criteria
- The documentation and work presented
- The time the individual has practised the trade
- The quality of the manufacture, finish and presentation of products
- Academic qualifications
- Training courses completed
Validity
The licence is valid for three years and may be renewed for a further three years, except in the case of individuals with a residence permit that will run out before the expiry of the licence.
Advantages
This licence entitles holders to:
- Receive the Newsletter that is published every four months.
- Participate in any fairs and commercial promotion actions held.
- Access to incentives, competitions, exhibitions and shows.
- Receive, at no cost, the photographs taken of the pieces deposited with Artesania Catalunya (you must apply in writing).
Holders will also be entitled to discounts in member establishments.
